The School of Biology and Pharmacy of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Institute of General Botany and Plant Physiology,
seeks to fill on January 15, 2018 (or later) the position of a
Scientific staff member (50%; PhD position/DoktorandIn)
- University degree (Diploma/Master) in biology, biochemistry or a related field
- The applicant should work highly motivated and should be interested in areas of molecular biology, biochemistry and/or proteomics. She/he should be familiar with the cultivation of microorganisms.
- Experiences on one of the above mentioned topics will be expected.
The focus of the research activities will be on the elucidation of the molecular mechanism of light, temperature or circadian controlled signaling pathways in eukaryotic photosynthetic microorganisms, (for literature see: „http://www.botanik.uni-jena.de/en/Publications_page_5826.html“). We use the unicellular green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as model, whose genome sequence is available as well as numerous mutants. The employed methods will include such of molecular biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry and proteomics. Participation in teaching in the Bachelor Biology direction Molecular Life Sciences (MLS) or in the Master MLS is expected.
The position is initially limited for three years; an extension is possible. It is a 50% position. Payment is based on the provisions of the collective agreement for the public sector in the country (TV-L) according to personal prerequisites (maximal: “Entgeltgruppe 13”).
